How to replace an existing
Music System with an Antex XM-100 System
This brief guide provides a simple and economical way
to replace an existing Music commercial music system
with an Antex XM-100 XM Music satellite receiver,
using the
existing RG6 coax cable run from the roof to your central music system that
remains from the original Music installation.
The Antex XM-100
receiver is based upon an
RG-58 coax delivery. However,
with proper adapters, the installer can utilize an existing or new RG-6 coax
run of up to 100’ (from dish to receiver) without the need for
in-line amplification. Legacy Music
installations made use of RG-6 (or RG-59 coax) which are traditionally
left behind after the Music contract ends and Music specific receiver hardware
is removed.
The XM-100 ships with a
standard indoor/outdoor-rated XM
antenna. This antenna
features a 20’ RG-58 coax lead hard-wired to the antenna which terminates in a “female”
slip-on RG-58 SMB connector. The XM-100 antenna fitting on the back panel
is a “male”
slip-on RG-58 SMB connector. RG-6 adaptors (see
below) are available for these fittings which are easy to install and provide
minimal attenuation loss.
The XM-100 is designed specifically for the commercial music market and is an excellent option for the small to mid-size retail and restaurant businesses and chains.
The XM-100 unit is capable of
dayparting up to 99
Force Tune Events per day so
that specific channels, events
and volume levels can
be preprogrammed for each day of
the week, creating a
custom blend of XM programming that matches your clients’ wishes Front
panel access can be locked-out completely or
during certain times of the day so that
no one can change the channels or programming. without
authorization. The
XM-100 features Left, Right,
and MONO RCA audio outputs facilitating integration with
older and 70-volt systems. And finally, the analog output of the XM-100
is front panel selectable from 0-2VRMS to account for
leveling of various amplifier and speaker
combinations.
When installing the Antex XM-100 receiver, you will need to use the XM Radio antenna that is provided (please note that there are other commercial-grade XM antennas available from XM Radio and Pixel Technologies).
