Overview

The 20-bit Antex Model BX-12 is the most advanced and feature-laden product manufactured by Antex. Designed to meet the demand for more powerful and flexible digital broadcast systems, Antex engineers have incorporated the equivalent of four boards on a single soundcard. The Model BX-12 features 10 balanced analog outputs and two balanced analog inputs that are controlled via Antex's on-board digital mixer application. With separate record and playback subsystems, each with its own dedicated sample clock, the Broadcaster provides simultaneous recording and playback functions. This makes possible the production of spots, phone calls and program feed recording and editing while playing back a stereo program on-air - all with a single card on a single PC.

The Broadcaster's high level of integration and features give OEMs and developers the ability to simplify integration, increase application functionality and lower the cost of digital broadcast systems. The card currently supports MPEG and 16-bit ADPCM compression. 20-bit converters and Antex's multi-layer board design to prevent electronic interference within the PC provide CD-quality digital audio for the highest quality digital broadcast applications.

Features

  • Full-sized PCI-based, multi-channel digital audio adapter for PC and compatible computers
  • 2-in / 10-out balanced analog, stereo digital AES/EBU inputs via D-sub connector
  • Separate recording (production) and playback subsystems each with a fully-independent sample clock
  • 5 stereo or mono devices
  • Recording and production of spots, phone calls and feeds simultaneously with on-air playback with a single PC
  • Microphone feed-through circuit
  • On-board mixer applications: allows live microphone feed through, realtime crossfades and fadeouts to be performed digitally with 32-bit precision
  • The Antex mixer application can automate and replace an external digital mixing console
  • On-board header to accept the field-upgradable Antex daughtercard that breaks out the outputs into AES/EBU digital for simultaneous, parallel access to all analog and digital outputs
  • Optional general purpose opto-isolated 16-bit digital I/Os, with a serial data stream to allow system integrators future expansion for controlling keypad switches, user interface functions, timers and other broadcast installation functions
