ANTEX ELECTRONICS INTRODUCES WORLD’S FIRST MULTIZONE
SATELLITE RADIO RECEIVER
Distributes SIRIUS Satellite Radio to Three Zones
Indianapolis, Indiana (September 3, 2003) -- Offering the
world’s first satellite radio receiver designed specifically
for multi-room and multi-zone distributed audio systems, Antex
Electronics, a leading developer and supplier of OEM professional
digital audio products, satellite receivers and Internet Appliances,
unveils the SRX-3
Triple Play, a three-zone SIRIUS receiver, today at
the CEDIA Expo. Consolidating multiple tuners into a single
component with single antenna and consolidated control scheme,
Triple Play allows listeners in different rooms to play different
SIRIUS streams simultaneously over a multi source (or Zone)
distributed audio system. Suitable for home use, SRX-3 Triple
Play will be available in November.
The first-of-its-kind satellite radio receiver is designed
for use in multi-zone, multi-room audio systems typically
found in luxury homes and boats. Equipped with both IR and
RS-232 control, the Triple Play integrates easily with popular
entertainment control systems from Crestron, AMX, Sonance,
Niles, Elan, Kenwood, and other companies. Suitable for tabletop
display or rack mounting, the receiver is tailored to the
needs of custom electronics installers. The manufacturer’s
suggested retail price is $1695.00. Subscription to SIRIUS
is also required.
“This is an exciting development for consumers and
tremendous opportunity for home electronics installers and
professional sound contractors,” said Dave Foley, president,
Antex Electronics. “Our 20-year heritage in providing
digital audio products to the professional broadcast and video
markets puts us in a great position to partner with SIRIUS
in making digital satellite radio a practical option for distributed
audio systems. We believe the product will appeal to owners
of existing systems as well as new customers for multi-zone
audio, and the Triple Play receiver is just the beginning
of Antex’s commitment to offering premium entertainment
to the home owner.”
“We are excited to provide installers and customers
with a value-added entertainment option,” said Larry
Pesce, vice president, product management and strategic planning
at SIRIUS. “Partners such as Antex allow us to stay
ahead of the curve in the product development cycle of satellite
radio and provide music lovers with the very best in premium
entertainment in the car at home, and at work.”
The Triple Play’s front panel features a 160x240 graphical
backlit LCD display that includes a zone indicator as well
as category, channel, title, track, and artist information
for each zone. Clearly marked buttons allow users to select
zones, scroll between stations and content categories, or
choose from up to 10 preset stations for each zone (30 total).
The receiver can be programmed to skip specified channels
during channel scrolling, and a parental lock feature can
be enabled that requires the input of a code number before
the contents of specific channels can be heard.
Macros for most popular control systems will be available
for download, and IR or RS-232 connections control input.
Each zone offers independent TOSlink, S/PDIF and analog RCA
line level outs.
