Antex Releases Media Director®
Digital Appliance Offers Businesses New Video/Audio Presentation
Technology
Industry Leader Antex Also Announces Formation Of New Digital
Media Division

Gardena, California. (April 19, 2001) -- Antex Electronics,
a leading manufacturer of professional DSP based sound cards
and satellite receivers, today announces the formation of
a Digital Media Division with the launch of Media Director,
a new network/internet appliance for the secure delivery and
presentation of audio and video for use in commercial business
applications.
Virtually every business or public venue is anxious to promote
its products, services and brand identity in the most impactful,
revenue-generating and cost-effective manner possible. While
other digital appliances often lack sophisticated visual and
audio components and are at the mercy of unreliable online
connections, the Media Director was designed to be the ultimate
presentation tool. Combining local hard disk storage, ethernet
connectivity, and sophisticated client/server architecture
with both audio and video outputs, the Media Director is a
flexible total business media solution.
"The Media Director was developed for use in a wide
variety of promotional and broadcasting applications,"
says Dave Foley, marking his six-month anniversary as President
of Antex. "Retailers and advertisers can use Media Director
to sequence audio/video programming to promote products at
the point of sale from kiosks and electronic billboards; broadcasters
can use the Media Director to incorporate local content with
network feeds; and corporations can use a network of Media
Directors to run synchronized multimedia presentations worldwide."
The goal, adds Foley, is to empower business leaders –
whether heading up retail chains, running high-traffic entertainment
destinations, or operating major metropolitan transportation
centers – to create and distribute custom programming.
According to Foley, "The Media Director, with its highly
configurable client/server software architecture, allows companies
to create a closed-loop, highly-personalized brand-building
mini-network that can not only entice consumers, but provide
comprehensive reports directly tracking the correlation between
on-site promotions and point-of-purchase sales."
The Media Director, with its large local hard disk, is designed
to download and store data for instant and reliable playback
without the need for a dedicated broadband connection and
is also capable of streaming audio/video material in real
time. The Media Director can be integrated with a LAN/WAN
network or operate remotely via Internet connection and is
capable of delivering full screen MPEG2 video – including
NTSC/PAL/component video, high resolution still images, as
well as high-fidelity audio.
"The Media Director is an advertising network in a box,"
says Boyce Williams, Antex’s recently-appointed Director
of New Technologies. "Shopping malls, sports and entertainment
venues, theatre multiplexes, health clubs, and music/video
retail chains can use a centrally managed network of Media
Directors to generate revenues from advertisers interested
in reaching highly targeted captive audiences."
