ANTEX DEMOS MEDIA CLIENT TERMINAL IN MICROSOFT BOOTH AT
EMBEDDED SYSTEMS WEST
San Jose, California. (September 26, 2000) -- Antex Electronics,
the leading manufacturer of high-end digital audio equipment
for the professional audio, video and broadcast markets, will
display a production version of its new Internet-based client
terminal, Media Client, in the Microsoft exhibit at the Embedded
Systems Conference, San Jose Convention Center, September
26-28, 2000.
The Antex client terminal is a state-of-the-art multimedia
storage and delivery system manufactured initially for DMX
Music, a subsidiary of Liberty Digital Inc. in Los Angeles.
DMX markets the terminal under the trade name AXIS to retail
merchandisers throughout the US and Canada as an e-business
tool to provide not only background music, but as a full-featured
communications solution with messaging and dynamic in-store
video advertising capabilities.
Antex developed the AXIS client terminal using technology
from both IBM Global Services Division (IGS) and Microsoft.
IBM’s Digital Media Distributor (DMD) platform ensures
rapid delivery of DMX’s media content over a secure
network fed by IBM host servers located in Denver.
The Antex client terminals store more than 450 hours of high-quality
stereo Dolby Digital audio, and are refreshed with updated
and encrypted music content nightly via a high-speed Internet
connection. The AXIS terminal is powered by a National Semiconductor
Geode processor and operates under Windows CE 2.12.
The Embedded Systems Conference is a technical forum dedicated
to providing engineers, developers and project managers with
practical information from leading experts in the field, as
well as an exhibit area displaying the latest in embedded
designs and applications.
