ANTEX ELECTRONICS AGAIN EXPANDS ITS WIDELY USED BROADCASTER
SERIES WITH THE NEW BX-12e DIGITAL AUDIO CARD
PC-Compatible Audio Adapter Packed With Advanced New Features
For Broadcast Automation Professionals
Gardena, California. (February. 8, 2000) -- Antex Electronics,
a leading manufacturer of high-end digital audio sound cards
for studio-quality PC-based recording and playback, today
announced the Broadcaster™ BX-12e Adapter, a new digital
audio solution offering a host of new features and benefits
to those working in broadcast automation.
The BX-12e further builds on Antex's popular Broadcaster™
series of digital audio adapters, which includes the widely
used Broadcaster™ BX-12, considered by many an industry
standard, and the BX-8, a companion model to the BX-12 featuring
multi-track analog and digital outputs with MPEG Layer I/II
decoding.
Advanced Features - The Difference is Heard
The BX-12e’s major feature is its ability to playback
MPEG files with up to four independent and fully adjustable
sample rates. By adjusting each sample rate in increments
of 50Hz over the entire 50Hz range, the user can achieve dynamic
time-scale modification under software control.
Users can easily fine tune an audio track for replay under
a pre-programmed time frame with virtually no degradation
in audio quality. In addition, DSP software-based sample rate
conversion allows any file to be converted to a common AES
word clock for interface to digital consoles.
With 20-bit A/D and D/A converters, four stereo analog channels
for playback and MPEG Layer I/II compression, the Model BX-12e
is clearly one of the most sophisticated and feature-rich
soundcards on the market – transforming an off-the-shelf
Windows PC into a powerful audio playback solution. In addition,
all analog outputs can be optionally field upgraded to full
AES/EBU digital.
Target Markets & Applications
The BX-12e is designed for digital broadcasting systems engaged
in radio automation applications, providing high-performance
support for on-air playback and assist, satellite distribution
and storecasting.
“As a partner to many broadcast professionals in the
radio field, we're proud to provide this newest member of
the Broadcaster family to the industry,” said Jim Antrim,
president and CEO of Antex. “The demand for advanced
digital audio solutions that are a cut above the norm is truly
a testament to the importance these professionals place on
the audio portion of their computer systems.”
Other key features of the BX-12e include:
- Four stereo devices with four physical analog outputs
available simultaneously.
- One stereo input.
- Flexible digital mixing and volume control between all
channels.
- Seamless support for industry’s most common compression
formats, including MPEG Layer I/II, and linear 8 or 16-bit
PCM.
- Dynamic range of 92dB with Total Harmonic Distortion +Noise
of 0.003%. .
- 20-bit A/D and D/A converters.
- Stereo AES/EBU or S/PDIF digital output
- Full-sized PCI card for Intel and Alpha platforms
- Optional plug in card provides digital outputs simultaneously
with analog outputs.
